Acrylic paint on 20″ by 16″ canvas.
Painted in November 2014.
Tiny Pollocks transpired after watching documentaries on Jackson Pollock, and the movie Pollock (2000). I assumed that every abstract artist probably goes through a Pollock enticement where they ask themselves, “Can I just drip paint on a canvas and make it look like a Jackson Pollock?” After much research on Pollock’s life and his painting techniques, and after producing this painting, I came to the realization that his “drip technique” was not random, but very controlled. My effort here is a little naive, and on such a small scale compared to Pollock’s 20 feet plus canvases, but it was enjoyable and makes for a respectable story when people see it on my gallery wall.
