Dancing Around the Room was conceptualized after watching a documentary on Matisse. I had also just finished the Kaos Series using only palette knives to apply the paint. I came up with this design thinking of painting only with a palette knife, but realized midway through that the figures needed to be painted with a brush. The picture is slightly abstract while paying homage to Matisse’s The Dance & Jazz. The slideshow below shows both Matisse masterpieces on the last slide called Matisse Study.
